Snap A Request — Privacy Policy

Snap A Request is a Google Chrome browser extension provided by CW Dynamic Marketing (“we,” “us,” “CW Dynamic”) to our website-management clients. This policy describes what information the extension collects, how we use it, and how you can control it.

What the extension does

Snap A Request lets a user capture a screenshot of a web page they are currently viewing, annotate it with arrows and shapes, type a short message describing a requested change or issue, and send that request to CW Dynamic for action.

Information we collect

When you install and use Snap A Request, the extension handles the following information:

Information you provide the first time you use the extension:

  • Your name
  • Your email address

This information is stored locally in your own browser using Chrome’s storage.local API so the extension can attach it to any request you send and so you receive a confirmation email. You can update or clear this information at any time from the Settings screen inside the extension.

Information collected when you send a request:

  • The URL and page title of the browser tab you were viewing when you clicked the Snap A Request icon
  • A screenshot of the visible area of that browser tab, including any arrows, rectangles, or ellipses you drew on it
  • The message you type in the request form
  • Basic technical diagnostics: your browser name and version, operating system, viewport and screen dimensions, device pixel ratio, timezone, and preferred language

We do not capture content from tabs other than the one you are actively viewing, and we do not capture content from Chrome internal pages (for example, chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store, or PDF viewer pages) — Chrome forbids extensions from accessing those.

The extension only runs when you click its toolbar icon. It does not run in the background, does not read or monitor any browsing activity, and does not track what websites you visit.

How we use this information

We use the information above solely to:

  • Respond to the request you submitted
  • Send you a confirmation email with a copy of your message for your records
  • Maintain an internal record of work requests we have received and their status

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with third parties. We do not use it for advertising or analytics.

Where the information is stored

When you send a request, the data listed above is transmitted over HTTPS to a Google Apps Script endpoint operated by CW Dynamic under our own Google account. From there:

  • The screenshot (a PNG file) and a JSON file containing the context of the request are saved to a Google Drive folder we own
  • A row summarizing the request is appended to a Google Sheet we own
  • A notification email containing the information above is sent to our work address
  • A confirmation email is sent to the email address you provided

Data is stored by Google on servers operated by Google LLC. Google’s handling of data stored in Drive, Sheets, and Gmail is governed by Google’s own privacy policy and our Google Workspace agreement.

Data retention

We retain request records indefinitely as part of our normal business records so we can reference historical requests from the same client. If you would like your data deleted, email casey@cwdynamic.com and we will remove the associated records from Drive, Sheets, and our email archives within 30 days.

Your choices

  • Stop using the extension: You can uninstall Snap A Request at any time from chrome://extensions. Uninstalling removes the name and email stored locally in your browser.
  • Update your name or email: Click the Snap A Request icon, then click Settings to change what the extension sends with future requests.
  • Request deletion of past records: Email casey@cwdynamic.com.

Children

Snap A Request is a business tool intended for use by our clients and their staff. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Security

Communications between the extension and our backend are encrypted in transit via HTTPS. Access to the Drive folder, Sheet, and email account where request data is stored is restricted to authorized CW Dynamic personnel. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted over the internet.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated to active clients directly.
