GoDaddy Is A Little Weird
Registering your domain with GoDaddy is popular, but their interface is a little unusual.
That’s OK. The steps are still really easy when you know what to do.
GoDaddy’s process of giving access to partners, developers, and team members is a bit unorthodox. They give individuals what they call, “Delegate Access” via their email addresses.
This will provide access to any developer who needs it.
It’s important to know that you must be an administrator on the GoDaddy account to give a new user access.
Let’s Start By Logging In To Your GoDaddy Account
Click Your Name
Now that we’re logged in, click your name in the top right corner.
Select “Account Settings”
Click The Account Settings Drop-Down
Click Delegate Access
Click Invite To Access
You will have two columns once we’re on our “Delegate Access” page. The column on the left is a list of the accounts that are not yours that you can access.
The right column lists all the individuals who have “Delegate Access” to your account and allows you to invite new users to have this access.
Enter The New Users Information
Here, we will enter the new user’s name and email address. These are both required.
What Type Of Access?
Nearly anyone accessing your account will probably need access to both products and domains. In most cases, there shouldn’t be any need to provide a developer with purchase access.
I always recommend just granting “Products & Domains” access.
Click Invite
And We’re Done
At this point, the new user will receive an email from GoDaddy. The email will invite them to join your account as a delegate. This will give them the access you selected; they should have what they need.
Finishing Up
This brief tutorial should provide the information you need to extend delegate access to anyone who needs it for your domains.
